From the moment you book your spot to the day you step into the studio, here's a clear overview of what to expect. This guide walks you through every step, including payments, prep emails, WhatsApp invites, and more, so you can feel fully ready and excited for your time in Salemi!
BOOKING
Book your spot on our website. Once you click on the "Availability", you'll be taken to the booking platform we work with, which is called "WeTravel". You’ll receive two confirmation emails: one from WeTravel and one from us at Salemi Ceramics. We’ll also ask you to fill out a form with your personal and travel details. If you haven’t figured out your travel plans yet, no worries, you can return and complete the form later. Paying the deposit confirms your place, but you also have the option to pay the full amount upfront if you prefer.
WHAT'S INCLUDED?
All courses include: meals and non-alcoholic beverages from Sunday evening to Saturday morning, classes and mentorship by ceramics teachers, all materials and tools, two pick-ups and drop-offs (one from Palermo city, one from Palermo Airport), 2 x yoga and 2 x meditation classes, glazing (transparent glaze only), and firing of finished pieces up to 3 KG (shipping costs are not included)!
60 DAYS BEFORE THE COURSE START
You’ll receive automated reminders about your upcoming payment: 7 days before, 3 days before, and on the day it’s due. If your payment is completed early, no further reminders will be sent.
30 DAYS BEFORE THE COURSE START
You’ll receive an email with all the essential information to help you get ready for your course: arrival and departure details, course structure, housekeeping info, useful tips, as well as separate transfer and shipping costs.
9 DAYS BEFORE THE COURSE START
We send out an email with an invitation to join the WhatsApp chat group, along with a shipping address form. We love our WhatsApp groups; they give everyone a chance to get to know each other a little and warm up for the course. It’s also where we’ll confirm arrival times one last time before the course begins.
ARRIVAL
Flying into Palermo a day earlier is always a good idea, especially for those coming from overseas. It gives you some breathing room and helps ease the effects of jet lag. We recommend Hotel Politeama in Palermo (this is where the Sunday 11:00 pick-up takes place). Feel free to get in touch and we’ll share the details. They also offer limited discounts for our students!
COURSE BEGINS
On Sunday, you’ll meet our amazing team member, Francesco, for an Orientation Walk around Salemi. Once the walk is over, you’ll find yourself at a wonderful local restaurant, sipping a Salemi Spritz!
Classes run from Monday morning through Friday afternoon.
